US sanctions: Allow Iraq to import Iranian energy for four months

WASHINGTON-ALSHARQIYA  Oct. 18  : The US State Department has extended an exemption from sanctions to allow Iraq to continue importing gas and electricity from Iran for 120 days, the State Department said in a statement. Taking steps to reduce its dependence on Iranian energy imports, she said the United States has been regularly communicating with the Iraqi government to support measures to improve Iraq's energy independence.
