The United Nations warns of an increase in the number of hungry people around the world

New York-ALSHARQIA  July 27: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned of a significant increase in the number of hungry people around the world, calling on countries to unite in order to address the growing hunger.

Guterres said in a speech in Rome that up to 811 million people faced hunger in 2020, 161 million more than in 2019, and added that three billion people could not eat healthy food, as a result of the disruptions caused by the spread of the “Corona” virus.

He pointed out that poverty, income inequality and the high cost of food are responsible for these results, and that conflicts and climate change have been consequences and drivers for them.
