The Independent: Burning associated gas threatens life in Basra

Basra-ALSHARQIYA  April  16 : A British report warned that the city of Basra will not be livable during the next ten years due to Iraq’s continued burning of gas associated with oil and the serious environmental and health effects it causes.
And the report, published by the British newspaper The Independent, said that Iraq is one of the largest countries that burn gas associated with oil in the world after Russia, which generates devastating health and environmental effects on the population and the climate.
The report confirms that Iraq burns a little more than 17 billion cubic meters of gas annually, according to the latest data from the World Bank and is second only to Russia as the most gas-igniting country on the planet.
