Baghdad-Alsharqiya, August 9: Popular protests escalated in Iraq today, Sunday, due to the continuing corruption and lack of services in a number of southern governorates

Angry protesters from Al-Fahd District in Dhi Qar stormed the building of the Governorate Office against a background of water scarcity and poor services, raising slogans calling for accountability for corrupt officials.

  The protesters threatened to escalate if no quick solutions were found to their 17-year-old suffering


The Iraqi judiciary issued an arrest warrant against the former Iraqi Minister of Communications Naim Al-Rubaie

The Ministerial Council for National Security in Iraq held an emergency session to discuss the implications of the missile strikes

The United States has warned that it will not tolerate attacks by loyalist factions.
