Reducing the Champions League prize money in the coming seasons

Europe-ALSHARQIYA  October  20 :  A report by the "Times" newspaper on Tuesday revealed that the financial prizes for the European Champions League and the European League will decrease during the next five seasons, after the Confederation of Football Associations is financially affected by the emerging Corona virus pandemic "Covid-19".
The report added that the European Union "UEFA" informed the member federations that it lost 514 million pounds after the decline in television broadcasting and sponsorship income following the delay in the knockout stages last season.
The two championships were suspended last March when the pandemic spoiled the sports season, and they were only resumed in August after the end of the seasons of all major domestic championships in Europe.

The knockout rounds were held without fans in neutral stadiums, and each round was played as one match instead of the usual form of the two round-trip matches.
The report also indicated that English clubs can expect broadcast income and prize money to drop by about 4 percent.
