Egypt-ALSHARQIYA December 2 : A Yemeni artistic event ended yesterday in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, focusing on Yemeni traditional costumes.
The event featured 30 kinds of traditional costumes for some regions in the Yemeni governorates at the Egyptian Opera House, and Mohamed Saba, Director General of the Saba Foundation for Culture and Arts, the organizer, said that the event was held in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen, which came to conclude the Yemeni cultural events that the Egyptian Opera House witnessed over the course of a week, which began with the exhibition The plastic artist “Egypt Through Yemeni Eyes,” with the participation of 26 artists and plastic artists, and a series of cultural seminars and poetry evenings that were revived by Yemeni and Egyptian writers, writers and poets.
Saba added that displaying the Yemeni heritage in costumes came after a comprehensive study of the traditional Yemeni costumes associated with the Yemeni civilization and heritage, with the aim of highlighting the Yemeni cultural and artistic diversity and preserving Yemeni traditional costumes from extinction, pointing out that traditional costumes have been modernized, thus losing their original identity associated with the Yemeni civilization and environment.
Saba pointed out that the work of these costumes by simulating models of them in museums, books, references, notes of travelers and old photographers, and after a search that lasted for more than five years as he put it, explaining, “Through research and investigation, we were able to reach more than seventy traditional traditional garments for a number of regions.
And there was no way to document it except by making it and preparing matching models with the aim of reviving the heritage of our fashion that previous generations preserved for thousands of years.
Saba added, “which was made by hand and began to disappear with the introduction of cheap and ready-to-wear fabrics and clothes since the end of the twentieth century.
Stressing that the costumes that were displayed are from “Taiz Governorate”, Jabal Sabr's costumes, which number ten models - Al-Hijri uniforms - Qudas uniforms - Zabhan uniforms - Mokha uniforms - Qabbati uniforms - Jabal Habashi uniforms - soil uniforms - Razan uniforms - Bani Hammad uniforms And “Sana'a Governorate”, the old Sanaa’s costume, three models - Haraz’s five models - Khawlan costume - Bani Matar costume, in addition to the events in Sanaa, which is the henna night outfit. The mother’s (al-Sebou’a) costume and a number of supplemental Sana’an costumes, and the “Ibb governorate” costume Jabla: the ancient Ibb costume - the Ba'dan mountain costume - the poetry isolation costume - the oud costume - the aden costume,
