Announcing the formation of the National Council for the Clans in Baghdad

Baghdad-ALsharqiya April 22: The Arab tribes in Iraq held their first consultative meeting in Baghdad, to announce the formation of the National Council for Tribes to be the first institution that brings together Iraqi tribes from all governorates. A number of sheikhs and tribal leaders said that the aim of forming the council is to provide support for any effort that seeks to preserve the unity of Iraq and peaceful coexistence among its components, to reject violence in all its forms, and to return the displaced to their areas. The attendees affirmed their support for the government's efforts to enhance security and stability, spread the spirit of citizenship, support state institutions, fight corruption and extend the rule of law.
